„My works explore the visualization of how the relationship of space and time is perceived. The Möbius strip has served as a subject and starting point for my paintings since 1998. First I was intrigued by the mirroring of the Möbius strip, made particular by the fact that its edge is a line that runs parallel with itself. Later I used seven instances of the strip, which led to a system of stepped motifs. In this series I discovered such paradoxical qualities that cannot be detected in any other geometric form. My most recent series is based on a Sundial, whose gnomon is a Möbius strip. The shadows cast by the strip at the full hours produce a geometric system of lines, which became the source of inspiration for my current pictures.”

„I have been working with different optical glasses since 1977, creating compositions and statues. Starting with consumer articles, I gradually turned to individual objects, having earned recognition in particular with the design and execution of professional and sports awards. For some time now I have concentrated on designing and making original glass statues. Along the way, I benefited from the guidance of Zoltán Bohus, Márton Horváth and Vladimir Péter. My first solo exhibition, Risk, opened in Üvegpiramis Gallery in 2004. It was a turning point: I realized I was able to make works which are unmistakably mine and have an individual character. I decided to follow the road that opened towards glass sculpture. I seek to put to use the peculiarities of optical glasses and processing techniques, enriching geometric, abstract forms with new contents.”

(Péter Botos)

„Over the years, the organic inspiration of my early works gave way to a geometric idiom, and the monochrome of my realistic pictures (which also represented architectural floor plans) was slowly replaced by a preference for concreteness and colour. I became interested in additive structures, in which the visual representation of objectivity meets with the optical effect of the colour structures I use. My works contrast the physical elements of concrete painting with the playfulness of the branch of geometric painting that concerns itself with optical phenomena. I seek to produce a taught, harmonic representation of the encounter between different levels of reality.” (István Halmi-Horváth)
