WorksMask series
Simultaneous to my ongoing painting series, I have recently started to work with Masks. Inspired by the technic used in pop-up books, I create masks by folding paper, colored with pastel. The mask represents an artistic border area where myths and modern constructivism meet, as seen in Oskar Schlemmer's Bauhaus theater. The meaning of the mask may be traced to the etymological origins of the ‘person’ and the ‘persona’. Originally, the term ‘persona’ stood for ‘mask’. In prehistoric cults the mask forms an image in the act of hiding the protagonist's gaze and voice.
